Primary Facility Type
Radiochemistry
Secondary Facility Type
Low Activity Lab
Tertiary Facility Type
Sample Preparation
Core Functions
The primary mission for RACL is mission support to the Advanced Test Reactor (ATR) and associated research. We do this through a broad range of isotopic and elemental analyses on radioactive samples. Sample types include liquids and solids. The work we perform supports ATR operations, INL research and development across various divisions and characterization of environmental compliance samples.
Unique Functions
RACL has capability to do digestions and high temperature fusions (sodium peroxide, lithium metaborate) on multiple sample matrices. We are set up to do isotopic speciation through column chromatography, precipitation separation and liquid-liquid aqueous-solvent separations.
