Biography
Materials scientist and Ph.D. candidate at North Carolina State University focused on processing–microstructure–property relationships in multifunctional structural/functional materials. Current work develops solid-state processed permanent-magnet systems, including bulk SmCo₅-based magnets and Al–SmCo₅ metal-matrix composite magnets, using shear-assisted routes (friction-stir-based processing, solid-stir extrusion, friction-based consolidation, high-pressure torsion) and consolidation approaches (e.g., SPS). Technical strengths include quantitative microstructure/phase analysis (XRD; SEM/EDS/EBSD; FIB/TEM workflows), magnetic characterization (SQUID-VSM, magnetic force microscopy), and micromechanics/mechanical testing (nanoindentation, micro-compression on PI-89/TI-980, tensile testing, hardness). Interested in collaborating on irradiation-effects studies to quantify defect and phase/interface evolution under neutron/ion/gamma exposure and their impact on coercivity, remanence, hysteresis losses, and mechanical integrity in magnet-containing components for harsh environments.
