Biography

I earned my undergraduate degree in India’s top research institute, the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, which only admits about 100 students per year in the bachelor’s program. I have an excellent academic record and acquired extensive research experience in laser-based additive manufacturing of various metals and composites, including post-fabrication characterization like (SEM -EBSD/EDS, XRD, FIB, etc.) during my PhD at University of North Texas.

I worked on laser-based additive manufacturing (laser powder bed fusion and laser directed energy deposition) of various alloys and composites, including Refractory alloys, High Entropy Alloys (HEAs), beta-Titanium alloys, Iron-based soft magnetic alloys, Titanium and Nickel matrix composites. I have primarily worked on investigating the microstructural evolution during the additive manufacturing of the materials mentioned above and on understanding the microstructure-mechanical property relationships including failure analysis. I am an expert user of Optomec LENSTM-750 and CS-250, well-known laser-based DED systems. I am also trained in Selective Laser Melting systems, ACONITY MIDI, and TRUMPF TruPrint 1000 & 2000 and have experience handling these instruments independently. I have an in depth understanding of X-ray Diffraction, Scanning and Transmission electron microscopy (SEM and TEM) techniques which I used to  investigate and understand the phase transformations and microstructural evolution in additively manufactured materials.

My current research interests are in advanced manufacturing of materials for potential nuclear applications.
