Biography

Onder was born in Turkey in 1972. She completed her PhD in nuclear engineering from Ecole Polytechnique of Montreal in Canada in 2004, her M.Sc. in nuclear engineering from Istanbul Technical University (ITU) in Turkey in 1998, and her B. Sc. in mining engineering from ITU in Turkey in 1995.

She worked as a thermal hydraulic analyst to perform safety analysis for the Gentilly-2 nuclear power plant in the Quebec province in Canada from 2001 to 2005. She joined Canadian Nuclear Laboratories (CNL, formerly also known as Atomic Energy of Canada Limited) as a thermal hydraulic analyst in 2005 and worked there till 2013. Since 2013, she has been working as a fuel research scientist in the fuel development branch, later (after reorganization) called as advanced fuels and reactor physics branch. She has been involved in fuel performance analysis and fuel fabrication.

 She co-authored three books:

1.     B.J. Lewis, E.N. Onder and A.A. Prudil, Fundamentals of Nuclear Engineering, Wiley, 2017.

2.     B.J. Lewis, E.N. Onder and A.A. Prudil, Advanced Mathematics for Engineering Students, Elsevier, 2021.

3.     E.N. Onder, “Chapter 2: Nuclear Fuel”, in Pressurized Heavy Water Reactors: CANDU, Volume 7 in JSME Series in Thermal and Nuclear Power Generation, edited by J.R. Riznic, Elsevier, 2021.
