Biography

Andrew Kauffman is the Sr. Associate Director and a licensed senior reactor operator of The Ohio State University Nuclear Reactor Lab. In this capacity, he directs the day-to-day operations of the lab; serves as the primary liaison to regulatory agencies and other outside entities; directs facility upgrades, repairs, and licensing activities; participates in the research and education activities of the lab; maintains a senior reactor operator (SRO) license for the OSU Research Reactor; and participates in budgeting, strategic planning, proposal writing, and customer interactions. He has a B.S. in Engineering Physics and an M.S. in Nuclear Engineering from The Ohio State University.

Through peer-reviewed proposal processes, the NSUF provides researchers access to neutron, ion, and gamma irradiations, post-irradiation examination and beamline capabilities at Idaho National Laboratory and a diverse mix of university, national laboratory and industry partner institutions.
