All,
Like the rest of the country we have been watching and monitoring the impacts of the COVID-19 virus. Because we are a distributed user facility, we have been tracking our partner facilities as they received guidance from their parent institutions. All NSUF partner institutions have been impacted at some level.
As many facilities close or restrict access and activities, please work directly with the facilities conducting your work to determine how this will impact your project and milestones.
The NSUF Program Office based at Idaho National Laboratory has been working remotely since March 17 and anticipate this will be the case for several weeks. On March 25, the State of Idaho declared a stay-home order and INL began transition to a minimum-safe “plus” status. INL is not closed; however only mission critical staff are allowed on-site to make progress on INL’s highest priority objectives as identified by DOE and national security customers. We are working with our INL facilities to place all NSUF research in a suspended mode until the INL returns to a higher state of operations.
We anticipate that many of you will have questions regarding project milestones, deadlines and extensions. Because of how quickly things are changing, we are adapting as the situation evolves and do not have concrete answers to these questions at this time. We will keep you all updated as new developments arise.
As always, we are available to answer your questions.
Be well,
J. Rory Kennedy
