Critical Materials and Energy Systems Innovation Center

The Critical Materials and Energy Systems Innovation Center (formerly the Center for Advanced Energy Studies, CAES) is a research consortium located in Idaho Falls, Idaho, partnering with Idaho National Laboratory and regional universities. The Center contributes two NSUF-supported user facilities. The Advanced Materials and Characterization Laboratory provides materials characterization capabilities for alpha, beta, and gamma-emitting specimens. The Microscopy and Characterization Suite (MaCS) offers advanced microscopy and materials characterization tools in support of nuclear fuels and materials research. Both facilities are led by Dr. Mukesh Bachhav and serve as a bridge between national laboratory and university research communities.
