- <p style="text-align: justify"><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif; color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); border: 1pt none rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); padding: 0">Dr. Ahmed Tiamiyu (Tia) joined the Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering department at the University of Calgary as an Assistant Professor in September 2021. Before then, Dr. Tia was a Postdoctoral Fellow in the Department of Materials Science and Engineering at Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he was also a board member of the MIT Postdoctoral Association. He received his doctorate and master's degrees from the University of Saskatchewan with a specialization in materials science, and a bachelor’s degree in metallurgy from the University of Lagos. <a name="_Hlk78659528">Dr. Tia </a>is both NSERC <i>Vanier</i> and NSERC <i>PDF </i>scholar. </span><span style="font-size: 12pt; line-height: 107%; font-family: "Times New Roman", serif">His research focuses on <span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); border: 1pt none rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); padding: 0">understanding the processing-structure-property relationships in materials with an emphasis on materials synthesis and optimization for improved performance in extreme service conditions. </span>Dr. Tia is currently developing Materials Processing and Performance (MaPP) Lab at the <span style="color: rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); border: 1pt none rgba(0, 0, 0, 1); padding: 0">University of Calgary</span> to pursue different research projects based on his area of specialization. </span></p>
