Michael Heighes is an R&D Engineer at Idaho National Laboratory. After seven years as an ASE certified automotive technician, Michael went on to receive his bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering from Idaho State University in 2011. Michael has qualified training by Instron and experience on both servo-electric and servo-hydraulic load frames and relevant software. He continues to maintain and look to increase the capability of the irradiation assisted stress corrosion cracking equipment at the Idaho National Laboratory.
The Nuclear Science User Facilities (NSUF) is the U.S. Department of Energy Office of Nuclear Energy's only designated nuclear energy user facility. Through peer-reviewed proposal processes, the NSUF provides researchers access to neutron, ion, and gamma irradiations, post-irradiation examination and beamline capabilities at Idaho National Laboratory and a diverse mix of university, national laboratory and industry partner institutions.
