Biography

Dr. Josh Jarrell is the Manager of the Used Fuel Management Department at Idaho National Laboratory (INL). In this role, Dr. Jarrell provides technical and programmatic leadership in the areas of spent fuel storage, transportation, and disposal as well as provides strategic vision for INL spent fuel activities. Dr. Jarrell oversees and technically contributes to a broad range of DOE-EM and DOE-NE activities including the DOE-EM Aluminum-clad spent nuclear fuel program, DOE-NE spent fuel system analyses, DOE-NE INL SNF management planning, and SNF and nuclear material packaging option evaluations. In addition, Dr. Jarrell provides line management as the department makes meaningful progress on spent fuel issues at INL and across the nation. Prior to joining INL, Dr. Jarrell worked at Oak Ridge National Laboratory on a range of spent fuel storage and transportation projects as well as on the light water reactor modeling and simulation program, CASL. His education includes a B.S. and Ph.D. in Nuclear Engineering from Texas A&M University. His subject matter expertise includes used fuel storage, transportation, and disposal, system analysis and economic evaluations, team leadership, and program management.
